IELTS Test Structure
All candidates must complete four Modules – Listening, Reading, Writing, and talking to obtain an IELTS Test Report Form.
Candidates are tested in Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. All candidates take the identical Listening and Speaking Modules. there’s a choice between Academic and General Training within the Reading and Writing Modules.

Total Test Time
2 hours 40 minutes
The tests are designed to hide the complete range of abilities from non-user to expert user. Listening, Reading, and Writing modules must be completed sooner or later. The Speaking Module is also taken, at the discretion of the test center, within the period seven days before or after the opposite modules.
- Listening: 40 minutes, half-hour that a recording is played centrally and extra 10 minutes for transferring answers onto the OMR answer sheet.
- Reading: 1 hour.
- Writing: 1 hour.
How to Prepare for IELTS Exam
Listening
It takes 40 minutes: 30 – for testing, plus 10 for transferring the answers to a solution sheet. Each section, which might be either a monologue or dialogue, begins with a brief introduction telling the candidates about matters and also the speakers. Then they need your time to appear through the questions. Each section is heard just once. At the tip of this section, students are given 10 minutes to transfer their answers to a solution sheet.
Speaking
The speaking test contains three parts. The primary part takes the shape of an interview during which candidates could also be asked about their hobbies, reasons for taking the IELTS etc. Within the second part, candidates are given a cue card then have one minute to arrange after which they have to talk about the given topic for a maximum of two minutes. The third part involves a discussion between the examiner and the candidates
Reading
In this module, the reading test includes three parts, with 3 paragraphs normally followed by 13 or 14 questions for a complete 40 questions overall. The final test also has 3 sections.
Writing
In this module, there are two Parts: in Task 1 candidates describe a diagram, graph, process, or chart, and in Task 2 they reply to an argument. Within the General Training module, there also are two tasks: in Task 1 the candidate writes a letter or explains a situation, and in Task 2 they write an essay.
